After teaching for 43 years, Mrs. Erickson will be retiring. She will end her career teaching Family and Consumer Science at the high school and middle school. She has been teaching in Holdrege for 40 years.

She earned her Vocational Home Economics degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1974. Her first years of teaching were spent at Hooper Logan View for three years.

“I have very mixed emotions about retiring. Sometimes I am excited about it, but sometimes I am sad about it. It was a very tough decision to make,” said Mrs. Erickson.

Her plans for retirement are spending more time in Lincoln with her grandchildren, but overall she has nothing specific planned at the time.

“I will miss the kids the most. I really enjoy the kids. They are a lot of fun,” said Mrs. Erickson.

After 43 years of teaching, she has seen a few changes.

“I do not think students have changed much over the years, but families have definitely changed,” said Mrs. Erickson.

She has enjoyed many things over the years.

“My favorite part has been working with the different students, and the faculty here has made it fun,” said Mrs. Erickson.
