After over 40 years with Holdrege Public Schools, beloved high school custodian and former middle school teacher Ken Bendorf is retiring.

“The interaction with young people and the teachers is my favorite part of working in the school,” said Bendorf.

Known for his positive attitude and catchphrase, “Welcome to the Fun Factory,” Ken has left a mark on students in the high school for 12 years. Despite his love for being around the students and faculty, Mr. Bendorf knows he will enjoy his retirement.

“I will spend more time with my grandkids, and I will get involved in some Bible studies,” explained Ken.

Ken started his career in education. He taught at Humphrey St. Francis from 1969 to 1970. Ken then taught at Sandy Creek from 1970 to 1975 and was a principal at Beaver City from 1975 to 1976. From 1976 to 2005, Mr. Bendorf was a middle school math teacher at Holdrege. He became a custodian for Holdrege Schools in February of 2006.

Though the departure is bittersweet, Ken will always know how important his role has been in the high school. Thanks Ken for being a symbol of hardwork and positivity to all of us students throughout the years.
