As usual at HHS, students showed their school spirit on Homecoming Day and throughout Spirit Week.

“My favorite part was coming to school as President Trump on costume day and seeing people’s reactions to my costumes. I also like seeing what other people are wearing for that day,” said freshman Mason Hein.

At school on Friday, students showed up to school dressed head-to-toe in purple and gold. After the school day, each of the classes went out and finished assembling their floats. The theme for this year was “Lasso the Longhorns.”

When the floats were finished, the annual parade began at 2:00 p.m. The pep rally downtown, followed after the parade. At the rally, each coach spoke about their specific fall sport and the class float winner was announced, which was the sophomore class.

“I was really proud of our sophomore class  because we put a lot of time and effort into making our float. The game could have gone better but I am proud of how much our boys are improving and I’m looking forward to watching them get some wins,” said Jenessa Landin.

Then it was time for the football game vs. Chase County. The team started off strong, taking an early lead, but after a long fight Chase County ended up winning, 7-45.

The homecoming king and queen coronation followed after the game. Queen candidates were; Alexa Berney, Antonia Clayton, Addison Johnson, Kelsey Belgum and Meredith Christensen. King candidates were; Aaron Drews, Dantley Edgren, Matthew Anderson, Spencer Knuth and Drake Johnson. Junior Attendants were; Megan Urbom, Carly Janssen, Nathan Anderson and Ethan Twohig.

Aaron Drews was crowned King and Kelsey Belgum reigns as Queen.

“I thought that even though we lost, the student section was hype and we still gave strong support to our boys at the game,” said Anna Grace Weed.

The homecoming dance followed after the game at the Tassel.
