The Holdrege FFA Chapter held their annual Farm Safety Day on Wednesday, September 19,  at the Phelps County Ag Center.

There were 134 first grade students that attended from Holdrege Elementary, All Saints Elementary, Bertrand and Loomis Elementaries..

“Farm Safety Day is to reinforce different aspects of safety around the farm, and show the value and importance of agriculture in our community to the first graders. It is also to work on  leadership skills and public speaking for the FFA members,” said FFA sponsor Mr. Moore.

While the first graders were there, they went to seven different stations, six of them led by FFA members such as; ATV, Large Animals, Lawn Mowers, Grain Safety, Combine, and Tractor. The seventh station was lead by Southern Public Power teaching the kids about how to be safe around electrical power.

This event could not have been put on without the thirty-two business sponsors and the forty-five FFA members to help.
