Girls’ Cross Country Runs to Central 10 Conference Championship


Ready to take off, the girls cross country team – Jirsie Klein, Lacy Biltoft, Cassidy Newth, Sydney Reed, Kelsey Belgum and Kenzie Hurlbert – approach the finish line at the Central 10 Conference Meet at the Holdrege Golf Course.

The Holdrege cross country girls hosted the Central Ten conference cross country meet on October 4.

    “Besides the cold I thought everyone ran great and we definitely deserved first place with our performance!” said Cassidy Newth.

    After a strong run on our home golf course, the team ended up winning the meet. Kenzie Hurlbert finished sixth with a time of 19:42. Shortly following was Sydney Reed taking seventh place with a time of 19:44. Next was Jirsie Klein with a thirteenth place finish with a time of 20:30. Close behind her was Lacy Biltoft ending the race with taking fifthteenth place with a time of 20:34, and next was Kelsey Belgum with a time of 23:49. Cassidy Newth finished with a time of 24:28.

    “I thought the conference meet was a really good meet for our team. We showed a lot of grit that day,” said Jirsie Klein.
