 The Holdrege FFA continued their road onto competions by sending twenty-two members to the  Leadership Development Events on January 23 in Aurora at The Leadership Center.

    Receiving a 3rd place purple ribbon was the Senior Parliamentary Procedure Team 1 consisting of Spencer Knuth, Tyler Badertscher, Maddie Moore, Caden Erickson, Amanda Taylor, and Morgan Marqardt. Team Number 2 received a blue ribbon placing 5th. This team consisted of: Shelby Schmidt, Sierra Schemper, Samantha Schemper, Sabyn Petit, Karli Vap, and Damian Smith.

   The chapter sent one team in Conduct of Chapter Meetings, this team consisted of Jeremiah Johnson, Bailey Edgren, Kade Komenda, McKenna Ortgiesen, Erika Wilkens, and Cain Bailey. The team received a blue ribbon despite being short one team member.

   Madelyn Moore and Grace Borden participated in Natural Resources. Madelyn won the competition, and qualified for State with her topic of Urban Sprawl. Grace received a blue ribbon speaking on Cover Crops.

  Morgan Marquardt participated in Job Interview receiving a blue ribbon. In FFA Creed Speaking, freshmen Jerimiah Johnson received a blue ribbon.

   Sophomores Lauryn Ivey and Sabyn Petit competed in Junior Public speaking. Sabyn received a 3rd place purple, and alternate to State. Lauryn also received a purple, receiving fourth place.

   Seniors Caden Erickson and Sydney Reed competed in Senior Public receiving first and second place respectively and going to State.  Caden’s topic covered agricultural trade and Syndey delivered a speech on Food Deserts in the United States.

“One thing that I took away from LDE’s was how important it was to study and be prepared,”said freshman Kade Komenda.
