As the Holdrege speech team enters the latter part of the season, they ventured to Gothenburg for their annual meet. The meet is the last with three rounds and no finals for the rest of the season. With different judges and competition, the opinions were varied and the team had a tough day. Though the placements weren’t where the team wishes they were, a lot of good critiques and different opinions offers an opportunity for growth.

There were a few speakers that came away with some hardware for the Duster team. Boston Petit received sixth place for his entertainment speech in Varsity. The other medalist in varsity was Amanda Helms who placed fifth in extemporaneous speaking.

Novice speakers are starting to get the hang of things and are placing more frequently. Grace Maloley informed her way into sixth place in informative speaking. The highest placer of the day, Ella Roach, placed fourth in Serious prose novice.
