Speech Team Places Many at Always Tough Loup City Meet

In the last meet before conference, the Holdrege speech team took off to Loup City in hopes to gather momentum for the upcoming conference meet. Loup City hosts one of the biggest meets of the year with a variety of schools from all different districts. The Holdrege team came away with many successes across the board.

       The novice team performed well and received some medals. In novice informative, Grace Maloley keeps rising and placed second. In novice improv duet, Grace Maloley and Ella Roach have been performing at a high level the past couple of meets and finished second. Finishing out the novice placers, Maddie Parsons and Mya Pineda were ranked sixth in duet. The novice team overall placed fifth out of all the schools.

       The varsity team found large numbers of placers throughout all events. In varsity informative, Amanda Helms placed twelfth and Maddie Moore placed third. Maddie Moore also placed twelfth with her informative speech. Varsity entertainment had a tough final round, Reagan Boyken placed tenth, Tehya Cuypers placed eighth, and Boston Petit placed seventh. In humorous, Nathan Birtell placed twelfth and Wyatt Hornaman received  fourth place. Amanda Envick rose in serious prose to third place. The varsity extemp speaker’s continue to place neck and neck with Amanda Helms coming in seventh and Caden Erickson coming in sixth. Amanda Envick also placed fifth in poetry, right behind Tehya Cuypers who took third place. Our duet placers were Elizabeth Drews and Kamryn Lynch in third, Reagan Boyken and Eli Dutcher placed fourth. Finally, the OID Great Gatsby received fourth and Wonderful World placed eleventh.

The Holdrege varsity took third place in the overall sweeps. A well placing event is just the confidence the team needs heading into conference.
