Duster Basketball Finishes Season on High Note

With losing four senior starters from the year before, the Boys’ Varsity Basketball team knew they would have challenges, especially early in the season.

The Dusters started the season winning one of their first seven games. By the holiday tournament, the
Duster squad started playing good basketball and the wins started coming. Finishing the season on a
5-4 run, which included wins over Southern Valley andrival Minden, the team experienced a better regular season record than they had the previous year and earned the second seed insubdistricts.
In sub-districts, the Dusters held a lead late in the game versus McCook but lost a heart-breaker in the final seconds.
Highlights on the season included a close win at home against the Whippets and a close back and forth victory against Crete in the consolation round of the conference tournament.
Individual honors were: AllConference Honorable Mention – Jackson Hilyard, Dylan Bauman, Tate
Florell.
“The season had its ups and downs but despite anything that happened, I
wouldn’t trade this team for any other team,” stated senior Grant Engel.
