After many weeks of practice, which included band camp, early morning practices, and first period, the HHS Duster marching band started their competition season at the UNK Color Day.

“We placed first in class B in parade. We got a lot of really good feedback from the judges,” said Mr. Halvorson.

The Duster marching band placed first in class B in parading.

“Our parading is getting better as we practice it more. We just need more time and motivation,” said Logan Wood.

The field show was not judged, but the band members received positive feedback afterwards.

“I think it went very well. I think it was a good learning experience for the freshmen. I’m proud of how we did overall,” said Jarod Cernousek.

Their next competition is in two weeks at Harvest of Harmony in Grand Island.
