With a new school year starting, the improvements at Holdrege High made over the summer are starting to show.

“Most of the changes that have happened within the building were some just for safety and some for improvement and appearance. This year we did the two biggest sidewalks in front of the building, and took down the awning,” said Mr. Drews.

Over the summer and continuing into the fall the improvements have included: new HHS Duster sign on the outside southwest corner of the gymnasium, remodeling the upstairs and teachers’ lounge bathrooms, new entrance sidewalks, removing front awning, decorative window film, landscaping – such as front lawn sprinklers, trees, and boulders.

“We are hoping maybe by next year we might have stuff changed so that our gymnasium and locker rooms will have new heating and ventilating units, so they will be air conditioned. A lot of stuff that didn’t get done are not things you would see anyway. We have some heating, air conditioning and ventilation stuff that we need to finish in our building,” said Mr. Drews.
